Studio AKKA

Here is a beautiful competition entry from Akka and an example of how a clear representation ‘attitude’ can bring the anticipated experience of the landscape alive. Clean, illustrative, and abstracted just this side of cartoonish, this set of drawings immediately transport me to a hip ski event in this stylized wintry place.
I have to thank landezine for showcasing these:

Lovely right? An interesting thing to note is that AKKA sites the very talented Studio Botas as the graphic designers on this project. It is not uncommon for firms to hire renderers to illustrate their inspirations, especially for a competition entry. This relationship speaks to two things: landscape architects collaborate with graphic designers and that landscape architecture firms need employees who can render in a number of different ways. In the next set of tutorials I will look at different firms known for particular rendering techniques and try to decipher and disseminate the techniques for you.
