Back to the Future

Think laser cutting is expensive, well…what about rolling into your next review with a hologram in tow? Yes, that’s right, a lovely tiltable hologram that affords a variety of views and can be made in color or monochromatic. The company that this video is from is Zebra Imaging, located in Austin Texas.

Another fascinating way to think of what a “model” really is. This projection offers a similar sensation to the viewer, the ability of a 360 view, the opportunity to crouch down and look into the site at “eye-level” and the possibility of seeing the pallatte of materials in the site. Yet this is a 2D sheet of material, and it is not tactile in any way. So as with all digital vs. analog debates, what do we lose and what do we gain, and what do we change in the future, holograms that offer some sort of tangible sensation when a hand is passed through them?
